New Age, Old Ears

You have found this blog for one of two reasons:
1) You really like music, and you are willing to read a lonely teenagers rantings and criticisms of new and old music

or

2) You read Questionable Content and have been waiting for somebody who actually knows about music to create a blog.

Just to clear some things up:

-My name is not Marten.
-I do have actual musical training, and have been playing stringed instruments more than eight years. Not exactly sure how many exactly...
-I am willing to listen to anything you recommend for me to listen to, and will not attack you unless you attack me first.
-I listen to many different genre's of music. I do not prefer new Rap or NĂ¼ Metal, but listen to 1980's -early 2000's hip-hop, and Metal (Yes, there is a difference).
-Please please please be mindful that this is open- space, and your comments will be deleted if offensive (I am not saying I find any language offensive, but others might not).
-I play an 80's Fender Jazz bass.
-I like anything with a good beat.
-Please download Songbird. It is similar to Firefox in the sense that it replaces a standard app. It replaces your iTunes. Automatically imports ALL your iTunes music AND finds any music files on your computer. You can change the way it looks through the add-on's tab on the left side. And it's just over-all awesome. But if you like sticking with the standards, by all means stick with what you believe in. I enjoy the Songbird aesthetics.

Ah. Down to business:
Every couple of weeks I will ask somebody to recommend a genre
First suggestion will be Topic Of The Week
The first 3 people after that suggest 1 album from 1 band from that genre (if they want to)
Then, I will listen to those 3 albums fully without skipping any songs (You have my word)
Then I will honestly critique them as I see fit

If you see:

at the bottom of a post, that means I'm not finished, and you should check back the next day or later. I don't want to have nothing posted.

Right now, I'm listening to Glistening Pleasure by Natalie Portman's Shaved Head. They did a great job with the drum-machine. Very fun, hilarious, nonsensical, lyrics. Nice techno-y feel to it, but not over the top beeping and booping. Great headphone music. Nice melodies as well.
